James Cameron retains his title as "king of the world" as he has made a movie that is better than Titanic, the best movie of 2009, and possibly THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!!!! Avatar tells the riveting story of a paralyzed ex Marine who decides to take the position of his dead twin brother on the distant moon 4.4 light years away called Pandora. On the moon, he will become an Avatar, a genetically engineered version of the moon's natives known to the humans as the Na'Vi, who are very hard to make contact with. So the marine, now his mind in an Avatar body learns from the natives and follows there methods. But, as the marine gets closer to the Na'Vi, he gets farther from the humans. Now, the marine must decide which side he's on: The humans or the Na'Vi. This movie is a crazy and fun 3D adventure that certainlly tops Titanic by far. What was so revolutionary about Avatar were the special effects of the movie and the story.

The special effects were so revolutionary, that it looked as if humans were really on Pandora. Also, the special effects were a better kind of motion capture filming than the Robert Zemekis films made during this decade. (excluding Monster House; that was a pretty good film) The story was also very original as I've never seen or heard anything like this. The running length of Avatar may be very long in today's standards, (161 minutes) but the film never feels long until you get off your seat when the screen reads "Directed By James Cameron" since you're butt will be very, very, very, etc. numb. Other than that, Avatar is a genuine film that captures your imagination and changes the way you'll ever see films again. Some may even consider it perfect. I am one of those people. I'm not asking you to see Avatar, I'm saying it is a film experience you will never ever forget. Also, the IMAX screen really made you feel as if you went to Pandora with Sam Worthington & James Cameron. What I'm trying to say is, GO SEE AVATAR IN 3D OR IMAX 3D. You will thank me for telling you this now than in 2 years when this film probably won't be in theaters anymore, dudes.

REVIEW:

If you love classic Mel Brooks films like Blazing Saddles & Young Frankenstein, (No, Spaceballs is considered a cult favorite, not a classic) then Silent Movie follows up to all of Mel Brooks' original favorites. Silent Movie tells the "silent" story about a on and off director who must make a silent film to save a studio from another studio that wants to take over the 1st studio. This film is typical Mel Brooks comedy with his partners, the late Marty Feldman & Dom DeLUISE (R.I.P.) who were always funny with Brooks when they collaborated. It also continues being one of the golden parody movies, which in this case of course spoofs the silent film genre. With many jokes involving the genre being spoofed and all of the celebrity appearances from such actors & actresses like James Caan and Anne Bancroft, Silent Movie makes a great comedy for the older teens with no words at all. (Except for the word "NO!!") Anyway, if you love Mel Brooks or any kind of comedy form, then watch a Mel Brooks classic, Silent Movie.

If your looking for raunchy comedies filled with religious facts, cavemen, and strange settings, then Year One is your movie. Year One tells the story of two lazy hunters who get kicked out of there village after breaking one of the most important laws in there tribe. Now, they must discover the world that they never knew and have each others backs if one gets into some serious trouble. This movie was surprisingly funny as it did have its good moments and its bad moments. It's not something to rush out to rent or buy, but it is worth to watch with a couple of friends. Also, this film did have some things that really happened according to the Bible or Torah if any of you guys go to Synagogue or Church. But anyway, if there's nothing at redbox or Blockbuster for you to get, rent this one 'cause it'll give you a few laughs to share with your friends and some bottles of beer.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is a well done, brilliant film that really is quote on quote, "Fantastic." This film is about a married fox with a loving family that must save his friends, his wife, his son, and his nephew from three nasty farmers that he steals food from. This movie was by far the best animated film of the year, surpassing Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and the Pixar smash, Up. What made it brilliant was how it was done. The stop motion in this film makes it look almost as if it really was happening in the real world. And I love how director Wes Anderson, who directed films like The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou has outdone himself as this is his first animated film. Also, the voices of such characters such as Mr. Fox, played by academy award winner George Clooney and the Badger, played by funnyman Bill Murray fit perfectly into this film. This film also proves that not even Pixar can be the best at animation. Kudos to you, Fox. You guys made a smart move distributing this movie. Yes, this film won't be that sucessful, but whoever gets to see this will absolutely love it. Plus, this film does have changes from the Roald Dahl book, but the movie is still loveable and I bet Roald Dahl would've loved how Wes Anderson brought one of his creations to life. But anyway, you should see Fantastic Mr. Fox anyway possibe. I can absolutly assure you that you will be surprised by how much you will like this movie. As it is said in the title, Fantastic Mr. Fox really is quote on quote "Fantastic."

If you enjoy sports dramas filled with action and light hearted comedy, The Blind Side is the perfect film for you. The Blind Side tells the extraordinary true story about a homeless black boy named Michael Oher, who is taken in by Leigh Anne Tuohy and her husband, Sean, who change his life forever. With help from his new family, his coach, and his teachers, Michael realizes his potential to become an educated student and a football star. This movie was even better than I expected it to be. Director John Lee Hancock, who directed The Rookie and the 2004 flop The Alamo really makes on of the best films of the year. It is also somewhat hard to believe that this is a true story. Sandra Bullock makes one of the best performances of her career as Mike's adoptive mother. Also, Quinton Aaron, who plays Michael Oher is the perfect choice for the role he played. This movie also is the feel good film of the holiday season. It keeps a smile stapled onto your face for the duration of the movie. Anyway, this isn't a movie that has to be seen in theaters and can be better as a rental than seeing it on the big screen. Either way, just see The Blind Side in any format possible. Trust me, you won't regret seeing it. Hut, Hut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
